St Ann’s Church, St Ann’s Sq, Manchester

Like many buildings in Manchester, St Ann’s Church was badly damaged by the IRA bomb in 1996.
Heaton Shopfitters Ltd was awarded the contract to replace all the historic and unique damaged gallery windows of this early 17th century architectural masterpiece From the early planning stage we worked closely with the lead architects and English Heritage to produce the windows to a facsimile of the original.
The work required the highest levels of skilled workmanship and technique.
Air dried English Oak was sourced from a small Hertfordshire based supplier and all the curved members were then steam bent. To complete the works aged Georgian glass was sourced and obtained from the Crown Glass Company London.
Each component was then delicately and precisely assembled by hand and installed by our highly skilled craftsmen however budget was met and this project was one of the quickest restoration projects completed after event of 1996, and was nominated for a national award based on authentic reproduction.
Heaton Shopfitters Limited was subsequently retained by the church and has since carried out further specialist joinery repairs and improvements
